aether generator is the most exciting musical grouping i have ever been a part of. steve and i improvise everything, constantly exploring new sounds, taking joy in accidentals, finding new ways to modulate and grain shift and loop, melting audio and bitcrushing beats. we like fuzz. we take delight in small sounds. he provides rhythm and effects, i operate almost entirely as an effects conductor, using his midi and sounds to feed my side of the mixer. it is very visual and immediate. i think the truest summary of our work came from an audience member:

this is music for futuristic science fiction movies yet to be made.

then we are the bladerunner of audio. i hope we find ourselves within the context of your beautifully dark film.

it shall breathe as it is.

aether

: the upper regions of space; the clear sky; the heavens.

: the medium supposed by the ancients to fill the upper regions of space.

: a hypothetical substance supposed to occupy all space, postulated to account for the propagation of electromagnetic radiation through space.

generator

: a machine that converts one form of energy into another, esp. mechanical energy into electrical energy, as a dynamo, or electrical energy into sound, as an acoustic generator.

: a person or thing that generates.

: an apparatus for producing a gas or vapor.

: an element, as a line, that generates a figure. aether generator

: a machine as medium for converting sky into energy.

: a machine, purported to be invented by Nikola Tesla (inventor of radio, fluorescent light, the tesla coil, and whose initial work with electromagnetism led to AC current and the modern electric grid), that infinitely generates electricity out of thin air.

: two pseudo musicians who make sometimes delicate, sometimes brutal shifts and schisms and beats and ambience with various electronic hardware in an improvisational manner. see also effect/affect
